Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Spanish and Portuguese Linguist/Translator to provide professional translation and interpretation services between Spanish, Portuguese, and English. This on-site position is based in the Washington, DC metro area and requires both local travel throughout the region and international travel up to 60% of the time. The ideal candidate will demonstrate fluency in all three languages and possess a deep understanding of regional dialects, cultural nuances, and context-specific terminology, particularly in technical, political, or governmental subject matter. Key Responsibilities: Translate a variety of documents, reports, and communications between Spanish, Portuguese, and English, ensuring accuracy and cultural appropriateness. Provide consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation in meetings, briefings, or events. Conduct on-site linguistic support throughout the Washington, DC area. Travel internationally to support translation and interpretation needs as required (up to 60%). Review and edit translations for clarity, grammar, tone, and consistency. Work with teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of linguistics products in high-stakes environments. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive materials with discretion. Minimum Qualifications: TS Clearance Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, and English (verbal and written). Proven experience in professional translation and interpretation across all three languages. Ability to accurately convey technical, legal, governmental, or diplomatic terminology. Willingness and ability to travel locally across the DC area and internationally up to 60% of the time. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a multilingual team. Legal authorization to work in the United States and ability to obtain travel documentation. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience supporting U.S. government, international organizations, or multinational entities. Knowledge of regional dialects and linguistic variations across Latin America and Lusophone countries. Familiarity with translation software and tools
