Job Description

An opportunity is available for a full-time special education teacher to support high school students in a dedicated educational setting. This is a contract position starting as soon as possible, requiring onsite presence to foster meaningful, in-person engagement with students.

Location: Lacey, WA
Duration: Contract (CSY)
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Population: High school students in a rural community

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the learning needs of high school students with disabilities.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to enhance student learning and accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly to ensure continuous improvement and success.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and state regulations.
  • Engage with students to foster social, emotional, and academic growth, promoting positive behavior and independent learning skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid special education teaching certification.
  • Experience working with high school students.
  • Prior experience in rural educational settings or working with rural populations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to providing equitable education opportunities for all students.
