Job Description Who Are We? Prospect Hill Academy Charter School is a highly successful urban PK-12 public school located in Somerville and Cambridge. We enroll over 900 students from cities and towns throughout the greater Boston metro area. What does a Reading Specialist at Prospect Hill do? Content Specialists are critical teacher-leaders who are responsible for supporting effective instruction and student learning within their domains. At the classroom level, a Specialist may teach in one or more grade levels or work with particular groups of students to provide remedial or enrichment support services. CURRICULUM AND PLANNING
Demonstrates a depth of content knowledge and understanding.
Incorporates departmental/subject area expectations into lesson plans.
Develops lesson plans that are age and developmentally appropriate.
Designs lessons that accommodate multiple learning styles.
Activates and builds upon students’ prior skills, interests, and knowledge.
Aligns lesson objectives with school and state standards, as identified on curriculum maps.
Adapts curriculum in accordance with student IEPs and 504 plans.
Collaborates with fellow reading specialists, student services teachers, and classroom teachers to create aligned small-group intervention lessons.

Welcome to Prospect Hill Academy: Early Childhood Campus PHA's Early Childhood Campus is located in Somerville's Union Square and serves grades PK-2. The Early Childhood academic program is designed to provide developmentally appropriate, rigorous instruction to stimulate our students’ intellectual curiosity and provide the strong foundation of skills and knowledge required for continued academic success at the Upper Elementary, Middle School, and High School Campuses, and beyond. The Early Childhood curriculum is aligned with the Common Core Curriculum Frameworks and emphasizes critical thinking, collaborative learning, and the habits of mind of high achieving learners.
