Reports To: 

Supervisor & Senior Supervisor 

 

Current shifts available: This is a part time position. There might be weeks where there isn't a shift. This role will be utilized during peak weekends when our amount of dogs boarding hits a certain level and peak holiday weekends. If its not a peak weekend there might be shifts from 5pm-12am. Also to cover any shifts of our current night owl team.

Location: Southlake Union

 

Status:

Non-exempt, hourly. As a non-exempt employee, this employee is expected to work approximately 30- 40 hours per week unless otherwise arranged. The schedule is determined by individual store needs as determined by the Senior Supervisor. Night Owls must be flexible and will be expected to maintain an open availability to working weekends or evenings and must be available during peak holiday check-in and check-out times.

 

Job Purpose:

The Night Owl is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all boarding dogs, completing detailed cleaning projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a list of general job responsibilities. This list is not all-inclusive and may be amended to meet changing business needs. Dog Handlers:

  • Morning set up of the store 

  • Some meal preparation and feeding 

  • Interaction with clients when late drop offs and pickups occur 

  • Janitorial duties including mopping, vacuuming, laundry etc. 

  • Sanitation of dog kennels 

  • Feedback loop with other shifts and status reports  

  • Attend periodic required trainings and All Team Meetings

  • Mentor new team members as assigned

  • Uphold DDL Purpose and Values, communicating clearly, openly, honestly, and kindly

 

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent 

  • Prefer previous professional experience working with dogs (daycare, shelter, vet tech, etc.) 

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Comfortable working within close proximity to approximately 30 dogs in an enclosed park 

  • Desire to develop a thorough understanding of dog behavior 

  • Quick reaction time to unpredictable situations 

  • Comfortable working in a loud environment 

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills 

  • Comfortable standing for 8 hours at a time 

  • Able to lift 45 pounds
