Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Lead and mentor survey teams across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with company standards and client requirements.
Manage project budgets, staffing, and timelines to deliver work efficiently and profitably.
Serve as the primary technical and strategic advisor on surveying activities for oil and gas projects.
Project Oversight
Direct the planning and execution of field and office survey operations for pipelines, well sites, utilities, and facilities.
Oversee data collection, processing, and QA/QC for accuracy, precision, and compliance.
Coordinate with engineering, environmental, and construction teams to integrate survey deliverables into project workflows.
Technical Expertise
Provide oversight on the use of advanced technologies such as LiDAR, UAVs/drones, GNSS, and GIS-based platforms.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., BLM, RRC, PHMSA, FERC).
Maintain and improve survey standards, safety practices, and QA/QC protocols.
Client Engagement
Act as the main point of contact for key oil and gas clients, addressing technical needs and ensuring project satisfaction.
Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, RFQs, and client presentations.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/RPLS) license required.
15+ years of progressive surveying experience, with at least 5 years in oil and gas project leadership roles.
Technical Skills
Expert knowledge of pipeline routing, well site staking, utility-scale transmission, and ROW surveys.
Proficiency with survey software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, GIS platforms).
Experience with modern survey instrumentation and drone-based data acquisition.
Leadership & Communication
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams on large infrastructure projects.
Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with the ability to balance technical detail and business goals.
