Location: This is a Full-Time on-site position in Gouverneur, New York, United States Relocation Required: Candidates residing outside the Gouverneur, New York, United States region must be willing to relocate We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team. This role is based at our mining operation in Northern New York, within easy reach of the Thousand Islands, Lake Ontario, the Adirondack Mountains, and world-class skiing in Lake Placid. With Montreal and Ottawa just a short drive away, you’ll have access to both natural beauty and vibrant cultural hubs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of employees and regulatory compliance at both underground and surface levels of our operation. Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and promote workplace safety and compliance with MSHA and internal policies Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety procedures, programs, and policies Deliver and manage safety training and education programs Conduct routine risk assessments and safety audits Inspect underground and surface work environments for hazards and compliance Lead or support accident and incident investigations Accompany MSHA inspectors during quarterly or ad hoc inspections Recommend and implement risk mitigation strategies Schedule required employee health checks, including physicals and hearing tests Assist with weekly and monthly health & safety reporting Maintain accurate and organized records of training, inspections, and investigations Collaborate with all departments to promote a strong safety culture Perform additional health and safety-related duties as needed Qualifications Must-Have Qualifications Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and stay highly organized Proficient with computers for communication, tracking, and reporting Experience working in safety compliance environments, preferably with MSHA regulations Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills Legally authorized to work in the U.S. Nice-to-Have Qualifications Mining or industrial safety experience MSHA Trainer Certification What We Offer - competitive and comprehensive benefits package: 401(k) Retirement Plan with an additional 5% employer contribution Excellus Medical Plan with low employee contributions FREE vision, dental, and life insurance Paid Vacation, Holidays, and Sick Leave A collaborative environment where safety and people come first SourceOwls, LLC
