Job Title: Cold Formed Metal Framer (Steel Stud Framer)

Job Summary:

A Cold Formed Metal Framer is responsible for constructing and assembling the structural framework for interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and partitions using cold-formed (light-gauge) steel studs and tracks. This role involves reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, and installing framing systems according to specifications, often in commercial and industrial buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Measure, cut, and install cold formed metal studs, tracks, and furring channels using hand and power tools.
• Lay out wall lines, ceiling lines, and partition layouts per project drawings.
• Fasten steel framing members together using screws, bolts, or welding tools.
• Install bracing, blocking, and backing as required.
• Ensure plumb, level, and square installation of all framing components.
• Coordinate with other trades, such as electricians and drywall installers.
• Maintain safe and clean work areas, following OSHA and company safety guidelines.
• Use appropriate PPE and follow safety protocols on the job site.
• Report progress, issues, or material needs to foreman or project manager.

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of experience in steel stud or metal framing
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Proficient with measuring tools, cutting equipment, and framing hand/power tools.
• Familiarity with layout tools like lasers, chalk lines, levels, and plumb bobs.
• Physical strength and stamina; ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and stand for long periods.
