Operations & Facilities Manager – Lumber Distribution

Are you a hands-on operations leader with a deep understanding of the lumber industry and a passion for driving growth? Our client, a small but highly successful wood and lumber distribution company, is preparing for an exciting new chapter as their long-tenured General Manager transitions toward retirement. They’re seeking a capable and grounded professional to join the team, learn the business, and ultimately step into a senior leadership role.

About the Role

The incoming Operations & Facilities Manager will work closely with the VP to oversee all day-to-day operations across inventory, logistics, warehouse, and facilities management , ensuring smooth execution as the company continues its growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee facility operations, inventory management, trucking, and warehouse maintenance
• Drive operational efficiency while maintaining a strong team culture and morale
• Ensure timely, accurate deliveries and optimal utilization of yard and trucking resources
• Maintain high standards of quality and organization across the site
• Support the transition of leadership as the current GM prepares for retirement
• Work directly with the VP on performance, process improvements, and strategic initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in the lumber or wood products industry – non-negotiable
• Strong background in facilities or operations management
• Comfortable working in a small, fast-paced environment (team of ~6)
• Long-term stability in past roles; seeking candidates with strong tenure
• Hands-on leader willing to jump on a forklift or help with deliveries when needed
• Excellent attitude, work ethic, and ability to lead by example
