Employment Type: $75,000.00 to $87,500.00 Based on Experience

For over 40 years, Rural Human Services (RHS) has served the residents of Del Norte County, CA, with programs including the area's largest food bank and only domestic violence emergency shelter. With a dedicated team and a strong foundation, RHS is providing services to over 2,000 people per month. We are now poised for growth and innovation as RHS enters the next chapter.

We are seeking an inspiring, strategic-thinking and results-oriented Executive Director to lead RHS forward.

Position Summary:

As the Executive Director, you will serve as the chief executive officer and key public representative of Rural Human Services. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for leading organizational strategy, overseeing operations, managing a high-performing team, ensuring financial sustainability, and fostering key partnerships to drive our mission forward.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute long-term strategies aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and goals.
• Operational Oversight: Ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operations, including program delivery, team management, compliance, and infrastructure.
• Financial Stewardship: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and fundraising activities to ensure fiscal health and sustainability.
• Grant Writing: Oversee and prepare applications for grant funding, provide general administration for grants once received.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and manage a diverse and talented team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Board Engagement: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance and strategic alignment.
• External Relations: Serve as the public face of the organization. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, funders, partners, and the broader community.

Qualifications:

• Proven leadership experience, preferably as an Executive Director, CEO, or in a senior management role within a nonprofit, government, or related field.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, partnership development, and/or business development.
• Strong financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets.
• Passion for public service and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and impact.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.
