Grand Forks, ND The Department of Music at the University of North Dakota is seeking a full-time, benefitted, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Therapy. This position begins August 16, 2025 and is contingent upon availability of funding. Duties & Responsibilities The UND Department of Music is seeking a dynamic faculty member for its music therapy program. This position has an allocation of 60% towards teaching, 30% towards research, and 10% to service. As UND is in the process of restarting the Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy degree, specific duties in the first year include teaching courses in the music therapy sequence including Introduction to Music Therapy and Music Therapy Theory and Methods, along with courses that meet UND’s general education (“Essential Studies”) requirements. The research expectation includes producing, presenting, and seeking publication for original research along with seeking external grant opportunities. Possible collaboration opportunities include the School of Medicine & Health Sciences, the School of Nursing and Professional Disciplines, and the Department of Psychology, among others. All faculty are expected to contribute service within the department, college, university, and community and to participate in the department’s recruitment and outreach initiatives. A master’s in music therapy and a doctorate in music therapy or a related discipline completed by Aug. 15, 2025 Five years of music therapy clinical practice (or equivalent in part-time employment).
