Summary: The Aircraft Mechanic II ( C-130 Airframes ) performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft airframes, power plants, corrosion control, painting, electrical systems, and fuel systems for T/M/S aircraft. Also performs flight line essential services as directed by the daily Flight Schedule. This task order requires mechanics to perform inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, and preservation/de-preservation services supporting aircraft and aeronautical equipment systems including: Airframe/Structural Components, Landing Gear, Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems, and Flight Control Systems. Tasks and Responsibilities: Wash and clean aircraft exterior and components using high-pressure wash systems. Perform pre/post wash lubrication and corrosion control. Prioritize workloads and lead teams through complex aircraft tasks. Inspect work of Mechanic I and other team members. Perform unscheduled aircraft maintenance and inspections as required. Conduct daily, preflight, turnaround, and post-flight inspections. Perform Plane Captain duties if tasked. Cross-train on the MV-22 aircraft platform. Repair sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, and mechanical components of moderate difficulty. Follow directions from higher graded workers for repairs. Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, and systems. Repair and rebuild aircraft structures and components using hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Supervise jacking and towing operations, document work in maintenance records, and verify completion. Service airframe components at line stations to keep aircraft in safe operating condition. Specialize in work, repair, and modification of structural, spare parts, assemblies, and engine repair. Obtain FAA licensing if not certified on specific aircraft platforms. Possibly specialize in sheet-metal, composite repair, or other disciplines. Perform other duties as assigned by the Aircraft Site Manager. Required Educational/Skills Background: High school diploma or equivalent. Authorized to work in the U.S. Ability to obtain DoD CAC card for access to workspaces and systems. Four (4) years of troubleshooting and repair experience on C-130 aircraft or equivalent industry experience such as A&P or FCC license; experience on V-22 and C-130 preferred. Within 90 days of hiring, qualify as a C-130 Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI). Complete Navy Skills Specialty Class “C” school for MOS. Proof of completion of aircraft paint and touch-up courses or equivalent. Experience with structural repair using sheet metal, fiberglass, and composites. Knowledge of corrosion control and aircraft painting techniques. Valid State Driver’s License. Acquire necessary Support Equipment licenses if required. Ability to transfer technical knowledge effectively and communicate clearly. Meet or exceed standards outlined in CNAFINST 4790.2, NAMPSOPs, MRCs, and local instructions. Knowledge of naval maintenance publications and documentation systems like NALCOMIS. Work Environment / Physical Requirements: Work in high noise areas and near active jet aircraft. Sit and stand for long periods. Perform repetitive motions. Work requires bending, reaching, climbing, and lifting items up to fifty pounds, with assistance for heavier items.
